Junior Results 2005
Junior Report for 2005
It has been a great year for the Junior Section with the following notable
successes:
- Membership numbers up 47%
- Participation in Junior medals up 24%
- Several new initiatives to welcome new members and
encourage participation in competitions
- Full fields attracted for both the Junior and Adult-Junior
Opens
- Full sponsorship for Junior Open, Adult-Junior Open,
Pennant Team Clothing and Pennant Team Balls
- The Pennant Team convincingly won their section, losing
narrowly to eventual winners Newmachar in the semi-final. With only
one “leaver” this winter, the team is well placed to be
even stronger next season
- A clean sweep at the prestigious Hands Across The Sea
competition with Gary Copland winning the Scratch, Doug Ibbotson and
Steve Brown coming first and second in the Handicap, and Tom Forrest,
Kyle Shearer, Chris Walker and Steve Brown winning the team event.
- Several outstanding individual performance in Open events
with the highlights being Scott Brown reaching the semi-final of the
N E District championship, and Doug Ibbotson reaching the semi-final
of the St Andrews handicap Open
- Scott Brown was selected for special coaching and to
play for the N E District Under-16’s
The Juniors really appreciate the excellent facilities
at Murcar GC and on their behalf I would like to thank:
- The Council, Members and the Clubhouse, Pro-shop, Admin
and Green Staff for their understanding and encouragement over the year
- Our very generous sponsors A2+B,
Salamis, RBG Ltd
and Metco Services
I am very proud to have played a small part in what was an outstanding
year for Murcar GC. I look forward to continuing the excellent progress
in 2006.
